Selvatorium

Educational centre for Indigenous Kogi and Arhuaco children

About the project

The Selvatorium is a community-run educational centre for around twenty children in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia. Its aim is to provide children from the Indigenous Arhuaco and Kogi communities with a high-quality basic education adapted to their everyday lives and cultural identity.

Alongside regular lessons, cultural learning is a central part of the programme. Working with specialists, the children learn to develop, create and produce their own stories, narratives and songs.
