Fundraising campaign
Solar power system and refrigerator for the Indigenous school in Seykwanamake
Thank you very much for your support!
After two years of fundraising in Austria, we did it with your help: we raised all the funds needed to provide a complete solar power system and refrigerator for the Indigenous school in Seykwuanamake, Colombia!
In spring 2024, we travelled to Colombia ourselves, took the equipment to the mountain village and installed it on site. The solar power system will now give more than 60 children access to better nutrition.
This initiative is very important for the children and the village community. Meals are prepared for the children at school every day, but supplying fresh food is a major challenge. Previously, food had to be transported by pack animals over several days, often in extreme conditions. The tropical climate and lack of refrigeration made food storage very difficult. The solar-powered refrigerator now greatly improves food safety. The children can enjoy a healthier, more balanced diet, which also benefits their ability to learn and develop.
We would also like to give special thanks to the organisation “Die Karawane der Menschlichkeit” for its generous donation of 1000 €, which made a major contribution to the project’s success. You can find more information about this inspiring project on its website:

Photos and impressions
Getting the solar power system in place meant overcoming several challenges, above all the climb into the mountains: an eight-hour journey possible only on foot and with pack animals. For a long time, we wondered how to take the four-metre-wide solar panels and a rather heavy refrigerator up the narrow mountain path. The panels could not be transported by pack animals without being damaged, so they had to be carried up the mountain by hand.
We were all the more surprised when a group of young, motivated villagers from Seykwuanamake volunteered to help!
Below is a selection of photos from our climb into the mountains and the days we spent there installing the solar power system.
